Our client, a medium sized accounting and advisory firm in Stellenbosch, has a vacancy for an Accountant. For this client, experience will outweigh a qualification. This is a dynamic environment with loads of growth opportunities. A strong leader is required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualities

  • Minimum – B Comm / B Rek degree
  • Completed SAIPA Articles
  • Technical accounting knowledge (IFRS)
  • Experience in working on Xero and Caseware
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Duties (Including but not limited to)

  • Preparation of Financial Statements
    Prepare and compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs or full IFRS, depending on the client’s reporting requirements.
  • Bookkeeping and Transaction Recording
    Record and process all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely posting in the accounting system, including managing general ledgers, trial balances, and reconciliations.
  • Taxation Compliance
    Handle tax-related matters for clients, including the preparation and submission of tax returns (e.g., Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL) in accordance with SARS regulations, and ensure clients meet deadlines.
  • Management Accounts
    Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including financial forecasts, budgets, and variance reports, to assist clients in business decision-making.
  • Payroll Management
    Administer and process payroll for clients, ensuring compliance with labour laws, tax regulations, and submission of EMP201 and EMP501 returns.
  • Debtor and Creditor Management
    Oversee debtor and creditor accounts, manage collections, payment processing, and reconciliation of supplier and customer statements to ensure smooth cash flow management for clients.
  • Audit Preparation and Liaison
    Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors, prepare audit files, and ensure the provision of all necessary documents, working papers, and financial records for audit purposes.
  • Cash Flow Management
    Monitor and manage clients’ cash flow, advising on strategies to improve liquidity, manage working capital, and ensure efficient cash utilization..
  • Client Advisory Services
    Provide advisory services to clients on various financial and tax matters, helping them to make informed business decisions, optimize tax liabilities, and improve profitability.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    Assist clients with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights into financial performance and aligning financial plans with business goals.
  • Internal Control Assessment
    Evaluate and advise clients on their internal financial controls and accounting processes to ensure accuracy, mitigate risks, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Bank Reconciliation
    Perform monthly bank reconciliations for clients to ensure the accuracy of cash balances and detect any discrepancies in financial records.
  • Review of Accounting Systems
    Regularly review and update clients’ accounting systems and processes to ensure they are functioning efficiently, and recommend or implement improvements where necessary.

Salary

Our client offers a salary of R18 000 – R25 000 depending on qualification and experience.
